Makenna and Bracken
Where do we start? We have a lot of details we want to unpack about this sweet couple so buckle up!!
Just a year ago, here at Bradford Farm, we celebrated the wedding of Ben and Brianna Johnson; the girl who caught the bouquet and the boy who snatched the garter were none other than our bride and groom-Makenna and Bracken!
Here is a cliff notes version of their love story: Bracken’s older sister was Makenna’s babysitter growing up and she became friends with his younger sister, she has always felt like a part of his family in some form or fashion. At some point Makenna’s father, Chris, told her that he knew she would marry Bracken one day! Makenna couldn’t believe it, Bracken is five years her senior and she couldn’t dream of that. Makenna now tells the story that Bracken felt the same way, so he waited on her!
Gosh, don’t that make your heart melt?!?
Makenna and Bracken chose June 5, 2022, to join in holy matrimony inside our open-air chapel. We describe Makenna’s wedding vibe as classy hipster, wild and flowy design with a base of pastel and pop of bright color. Makenna’s dress is too hard to describe with words just check it out!! She claims she stalked this dress for months until she finally could get her hands on it and her cute little figure in it. Her bridesmaids wore green chiffon dresses and the green....I can’t pinpoint the right word to describe the color of green it was other than perfection! It wasn’t olive and it wasn’t sage, it was just perfect green! So pretty!!! Guys wore black suits with crisp white shirts and cream silk ties. Makenna’s wedding party wasn’t complete until she added Bennett Grace and George into the mix. Bennett Grace, our team can’t say her name without giggling, when it was photo time Bennett was the most cheerful flower girl to ever grace our property and with every snap of the camera there was a big “CHEESE” from Bennett Grace. Bennett Grace also wore a dress Makenna wore as a little girl so that added bit of nostalgia is what we live for here at Bradford Farm. George is Makenna and Bracken’s golden retriever, and he had his blonde coat shining and we added a wreath of ruskus around his neck for photos. George was so over done with joy and excitement that he skipped the ceremony and had to take a nap in the air conditioning during the ceremony but trust me, he celebrated!
Inside the chapel was decorated with cellar vases holding pampas grass and dried naturals, floral swags hanging from the old stained-glass windows and champagne fabric draped rafter to rafter to frame the ceremony space perfectly. Another added clement of Makenna and Brackens Day that we must share was the ceremony itself. Remember me mentioning Ben, earlier? Ben’s father, J.J. Has performed several weddings for couples here at Bradford Farm and they can be noted as the sweetest wedding ceremonies every time! J.J. has the bride and groom write a letter about the other and he shares parts of that letter during the ceremony, it’s always a moment when we all turn to puddles! It’s a perfect was to express your love for one another-during the rush of the wedding festivities you don’t have time to really sit down and put pen to paper about your true feelings. J. J. nails it every time by encouraging his couples to write those letters during his pre-marriage counseling with them.
After the ceremony guests feasted on new menu items from Southern Skillet. Pizzas and Pasta-So. Stinkin’ Good! Tuscan Chicken Pasta, Classic Pepperoni and BBQ Pizza just to name a few. Tables were decorated with cream linens, bud vases or assorted wildflowers, floating candles and gold candle sticks. The wedding cake was green ombré with wildflowers on top and gold leaf accents edging the bottom layer.
The bride and groom danced, laughed and loved on guests until it was time for the exit, that took place on the patio and was complete with confetti canons. Makenna and Bracken headed out East to honeymoon and site see at Yosemite National Park.
Makenna and Bracken, we love you guys! We are so excited to watch your love and family grow through the years. Thank you again for sharing your wedding day with us, you both have a special place in our heart!
